Meeting of the Association President with the ICAO President at a Symposium in the Netherlands
The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) is holding the Symposium on Assistance to Aircraft Accident Victims and their Families from November 26 to 28, 2024, in Haarlem, Netherlands. On the first day of this event, Alborz Sadeghi, president of the Association of Families of Flight PS752 Victims, met with Salvatore Sciacchitano, President of ICAO.
During this meeting, the association’s demands from ICAO were once again emphasized:
- To rule in favor of the four countries that have lodged a complaint against the Islamic Republic.
- After nearly five years, to finally condemn the deliberate downing of Flight PS752 by the Islamic Republic and the killing of 176 innocent passengers and crew.
- To amend Annex 13 regulations to ensure that investigations into aviation crimes are not conducted by the perpetrators themselves. A military force that launches missiles at a civilian aircraft cannot be trusted to investigate its own actions.
Flight PS752, a Ukraine International Airlines aircraft, was shot down early in the morning of January 8, 2020, just three minutes after taking off from Tehran International Airport. At least two missiles fired by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) struck the plane, killing all 176 passengers on board, including an unborn child.
